What a fun day out!

There were a few lessons to be learned, but with the right perspective, all of it was positive. The main takeaway was how well the event was orchestrated—organized by Founder and Race Director Beck Mitchell, with plenty of pacers on the day and happy volunteers throughout.
The race kicked off at 7 am, and as always, I focused on maintaining my target heart rate. The rain started early and didn't let up, but it added a refreshing element to the experience. The course was a point-to-point journey—a tale of two halves.
I really enjoyed the first half, as it was mainly downhill, allowing me to pick up the pace. Instead of thinking about the inevitable uphill ahead, I immersed myself in the beautiful scenery and was pleased to see how much quicker I was running compared to my last marathon, all while keeping my nutrition in check.
On the way back, rather than cursing the relentless uphill, I embraced it as a long, valuable training block. Unfortunately, some of my gels must have fallen out of my pack at one of the water stations when I was refueling. Luckily, I had energy blocks that served their purpose, and I felt grateful to have spares.
With about 7 kilometers to go, my headphones malfunctioned. I took it as an opportunity to enjoy the sound of the rain and nature, finishing the race without distractions. There's one song I always try to listen to as I cross the finish line, but this time, I embraced going with the flow instead of sticking to rituals.
I crossed the finish line near the back of the pack (as usual), received a medal and a banana—overall, a wonderful day out!
