NUTRITION FOR HEART HEALTH

EAT A VARIETY

of vegetables, fruits & wholegrains!
Fruits, vegetables, and wholegrains are rich in fiber, vitamins, and antioxidants that help protect your heart and lower cholesterol.

INCLUDE DAIRY

Unsweetened milk, yoghurt, and cheese are great sources of calcium and protein, without affecting your heart disease risk; if you have heart disease or high cholesterol, reduced-fat versions are recommended.

FOCUS ON PROTEIN

Plant-based proteins like beans, lentils, nuts, seeds, along with fish, seafood, eggs, and poultry, are heart-healthy options, while limiting red meat to 1-3 meals per week can help reduce the risk of heart disease.

GOOD FATS

Fats and oils play a key role in heart disease risk, with healthy fats like those in avocados, olives, nuts, seeds, and olive oil helping to lower cholesterol, while unhealthy fats increase heart disease risk.
